Privacy policy
Draft for review. What is collected, why, and the choices you have.
Who is responsible
This website and newsletter are operated by [legal name of publisher] ("the publisher"). Contact: [privacy contact email].
What is collected
- Account details: your email address, and your name if you provide it, to create your account, sign you in and deliver posts.
- Subscription status: whether you have a paid subscription, its renewal date and status, as reported by Stripe. Card details are entered on Stripe's checkout page and are not stored by the publisher.
- Email engagement: [confirm whether newsletter opens and link clicks are tracked; this can be switched off].
- Website usage: [confirm the analytics used, for example Ghost's built-in analytics and, if enabled, Plausible, which does not use cookies]. Email addresses and payment details are never sent to analytics tools.
- Messages you send: the contents of any email you send to the publisher.
How it is used
To provide the subscription you asked for: delivering posts, managing your account and billing, answering your questions and improving the publication. Personal information is not sold.
Service providers
- Ghost (Ghost Foundation): website hosting, member accounts and newsletter delivery.
- Stripe: payment processing, receipts and the billing portal.
- [Any other providers, for example an analytics service or an email inbox provider.]
Cookies
A sign-in cookie keeps you signed in. A small preference cookie remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme. Stripe sets its own cookies on its checkout page. [Confirm any analytics cookies.]
Retention
[How long account and billing records are kept after a subscription ends.]
Your choices
You can change your email preferences or unsubscribe from your account page at any time. You can ask for a copy of your information, or for it to be deleted, by emailing [privacy contact email]. Billing records that must be kept for tax purposes may be retained.
